Job Summary

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive patient-centered care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. This role collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure high-quality care aligned with established clinical protocols and physician orders.

Essential Functions

  • Deliver high-quality, patient-centered care in compliance with organizational policies and nursing standards.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and accurately document findings, promptly reporting any changes in condition.
  • Employ knowledge of human growth and development to provide age-appropriate care and education.
  • Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects, ensuring proper documentation.
  • Assist physicians during procedures within documented competencies.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and evaluate customized care plans based on patient needs.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and engage in life-saving interventions as needed.
  • Advocate for patients' rights and needs, ensuring they are considered in care planning.
  • Provide education to patients and families on medical conditions, treatments, and post-discharge care.
  • Follow infection control protocols to protect patients and staff.
  • Utilize medical equipment (e.g., IV pumps, monitors) safely for optimal patient care.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to National Patient Safety Goals.
  • Engage in audits and compliance checks to maintain high standards of practice.
  • Exhibit responsible decision-making when planning, delegating, and delivering care.
  • Document all aspects of patient care and education thoroughly and promptly.
  • Participate in professional development to uphold clinical competency.
  • Contribute to performance improvement initiatives for enhanced patient outcomes.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with organizational policies.

Qualifications

  • 0-2 years of experience in clinical nursing or in student clinical rotations in an acute care setting required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Strong understanding of nursing processes and clinical practices.
  • Ability to perform assessments and communicate findings effectively.
  • Proficient in medication administration and monitoring for side effects.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Organized and detail-oriented in documenting patient care.
  • Knowledgeable in safety standards and quality improvement practices.

Licenses and Certifications

  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure required.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support required.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support preferred.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred.
  • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation preferred.
