Description: Under the supervision of the Nutrition Services Coordinator, serves as a member of the healthcare team who plans, directs, and implements nutrition intervention to patients based on specified assessment criteria. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient, with awareness of the principles of growth and development and assessment of data reflective of the patient's status to determine specific requirements, needs, and responses. Collaborates with other healthcare team members to coordinate hospital therapy and plan post-discharge care. Provides nutrition therapy and education to promote a healthier lifestyle. Maintains professionalism by providing all services in accordance with clinical standards. Serves as a preceptor for dietetic interns as needed. Demonstrates the ability to adhere to all policies and procedures. Maintains absolute confidentiality of all information pertaining to patients. Displays a positive and professional image and attitude with patients, families, and coworkers. Demonstrates ongoing responsibility for self-education. Demonstrates effective critical thinking skills and judgment capabilities. Demonstrates the ability to effectively plan, direct, and implement appropriate nutrition intervention. Demonstrates the ability to counsel patients on nutrition issues. Visits patients as directed by management, or when needed by the diet office, as a means to improve patient satisfaction scores.
