Inspired Every Day.Full-TimeStarting Rate: $70,000 AnnuallyJOB SUMMARY: The Registered Dietitian (R.D) is responsible for the nutritional needs of all residents at the Episcopal Church Home, which includes both skilled rehab and long-term care residents. The RD is also responsible for providing as needed nutritional services to residents at Seabury Woods, Brentland Woods and Ashley Woods, and as needed throughout the ESLC continuum. In this capacity the RD will perform and coordinate all required functions to successfully provide for the residents. This position may be required to provide direct care or have access to resident property or belongings. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Manages all aspects of clinical nutrition per standards established by ESLC.
- Resolves nutritional issues with residents, their families, and staff.
- Coordinates with other Clinical Nutrition Team Members and Dining Service Team Members to assure nutritional requirements are being addressed for all residents, especially those at high nutritional risk.
- Educates residents and staff relating to nutrition interventions and therapeutic diets.
- Consults with physicians, nurse practitioners, nursing staff, and other disciplines concerning the normal and therapeutic nutritional needs of residents.
- Monitors the quality of nutrition care provided to residents.
- Maintains familiarity with MDS and Gerimenu systems and updates care plans as needed.
- Implement any new nutritional programs to support ESLC Clinical Nutrition and Culinary Programs success.
- Implements food intake records for residents; calculates, analyzes and documents the results.
- Reviews and updates the menu cycle to meet recommended dietary allowances and reflect resident's preferences, eating patterns, and medical needs.
- Develops and maintains records for the nutritional care of the residents.
- Conducts initial interviews and completes nutritional assessments, interventions, and comprehensive care plans to assure the residents' nutritional needs are being addressed.
- Provides leadership to others by promoting the mission and vision of Episcopal SeniorLife Communities (ESLC).
- Adheres to the organization's values and models behavior that fosters quality care, service excellence, and respect for all individuals.
- Contributes to the development of policy and procedures for ESLC.
- Works with committees in furthering the mission of ESLC.
- Works with professional organizations on issues in long-term care.
- Attends scheduled interdisciplinary care meetings, department meetings, in-services.
- Completes required documentation, per NYS policy, relating to residents' nutritional status.
- Complies with all regulatory standards to include federal, state, and accrediting agencies while adhering to facility confidentiality, HIPAA regulations, and patient rights policies.
- Engages in and oversees special projects at the direction of administration.
Requirements QUALIFICATIONS:
- Current Registered Dietitian credentialed by CDR required. NYS Certified Dietitian-Nutritionist license required.
- Good knowledge of clinical nutrition services and NYSDOH regulations on clinical nutrition required.
- Demonstrates excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to represent Episcopal SeniorLife Communities and interact effectively with any outside agencies or vendors.
- Ability to interact courteously and tactfully with staff, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and the general public.
- Basic computer skills are necessary, including the ability to navigate within a Windows OS as well as the ability to open, edit, or create electronic documents, email communications, calendar entries, etc.
EDUCATION:
- Master's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND).
OR
- For those eligible for the registration exam prior to 1/1/24: Bachelor's degree with completion of required coursework and supervised practice as dictated by ACEND.
EXPERIENCE:
- A minimum of 2 years experience in clinical nutrition services or related fields.
