REGISTERED DIETICIAN - PRN (Franklin, LA) - Bayou Bend Health System : Job Details

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The primary function of this position is to create nutrition plans to improve the health and physical conditions of patients. Main duties include analyzing patients' health status, goals, and dietary restrictions, tracking patient's dietary intake and progress and educating patients on how to maintain a balanced diet. II. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP:

• The Director of Dietary reports directly to the Director of Nutrition Services.
• The Relief Dietician works closely with the Director of Nursing, Nursing Staff, Discharge Planners, and all other department managers and supervisors.

III. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Keeps abreast of Joint Commission standards and other applicable agencies that affect dietary and clinical requirements to insure the hospital remains in compliance.
• Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations to keep abreast of latest trends in the field of expertise.
• Participates in hospital staff meetings as required.
• Ensures quality nutritional care.
• Coordinates and integrates clinical and administrative aspects of dietetics.
• Works as part of the patient care team concerned with optimal nutrition.
• Acts as nutritional consultant for patient, nursing, and medical staff.
• Performs nutritional assessments as required. Requests patient food preference and patient diets.
• Educates patient, family members, and or caretakers on modified diets.
• Writes modified diets and coordinates diet adaptations with house menus.

IV. EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's Degree and ADA approved dietetics internship - Registered Dietician
• Commission on Dietetics and Nutrition Registration.
• Louisiana Board of Examiners in Dietetics and Nutrition License.
• Current BLS Certification required upon hire.
