Summary

The Environment, Health, & Safety (EH&S) Manager is responsible for developing and managing the EH&S programs, identifying and mitigating risks to support business performance and reliability. This full-time, exempt position reports to the Director of Health and Safety, located in Baltimore, MD, with regional support to locations in Washington, DC, Morgantown, WV, and Atlanta, GA. Expect approximately 5-10% travel regionally.

The salary range is $110-120K plus a 20% bonus target.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and improve EH&S programs, integrating them into all business functions.
  • Provide expertise on safety, health, environmental, and sustainability regulations.
  • Interact with regulatory agencies regarding compliance and permits.
  • Coordinate EH&S initiatives, communicate green efforts, and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Identify risks and develop mitigation strategies aligned with business and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the site EHS budget and provide regulatory expertise on emissions and permits.
  • Conduct audits, inspections, and manage incident investigations and reporting.
  • Lead emergency response planning and serve as a Safety and Green Team chairperson.
  • Develop training programs on safety topics and hazard control procedures.
  • Manage Workers Compensation, industrial hygiene, and record-keeping for compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards and laws, including PPE use and physical requirements.
  • Basic Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health, Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
    • At least 8 years of experience in safety and environmental programs within utility or manufacturing sectors.
    • Familiarity with federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Strong communication and professionalism skills.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master's degree.
    • ERM, CSP, TURP certifications.
    • Detail-oriented, capable of multitasking, and tech-savvy.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Emergency Status Designation: Essential; EH&S Incident Coordinator/Commander, Qualified Individual alternate.

    Physical Requirements

    • Pre-employment drug screening and physical exam required.
    • Valid driver's license in good standing.
    • Ability to wear PPE and work in extreme weather, confined spaces, and around hazards.
