- Provide general oversight and support to the lab and technicians
- Oversee adherence to test methods and laboratory procedures
- Perform inventory management of all bulk and regent chemicals
- Direct the proper preparation, storage, and use of all controlled materials
- Evaluates supplies and materials needed for testing and directs purchasing department on correct ordering
- Keep accurate records related to testing activities and prepare summary reports of data in a timely manner
- Troubleshoot instruments, equipment, and production processes to include tank solution performances
- Perform routine analytical and physical process control testing including evaluation of external test reports
- Leads continuous improvement initiatives in the laboratory department including internal auditing
- Standards and improvement systems, performance, leadership, training, interpersonal relationships and professional ethics
- Manage organizational and team dynamics, customer expectations and satisfaction and supplier relations
- Serve as the primary regional resource to lab department supervisor(s) for issue identification, material and process review, issue resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement
- Lead, assist and maintain process certification for NADCAP and all other relevant certification registrations with a high level of system compliance
- Sustain outside audits and recertification audits as required
- Actively participate and promote a safe work culture
- Provide training, general oversight and support to the Lab, Site Departments and Management
- Oversee adherence to test methods and laboratory procedures and schedules promoting On Time Delivery with minimal downtime
- Represent the laboratory in daily Gemba presentations and related activities
- Develop and propose annual budgets for chemicals, equipment, contracted services and labor
- Setup and maintenance of solution control and performance testing database
- Keep accurate records related to testing activities and prepare summary reports of data in a timely manner
- Minimize process down time through predictive solution maintenance, waste management and procurement activities
- Assure compliance with dangerous waste management protocols within the laboratory environment
- Participates in, sometimes as lead, audits pertaining to NADCAP, AS9100, & Individual Customer
- Identify and recommend safety, quality and efficiency improvement opportunities using Lean Manufacturing principals
- Monitors, measures and implements corrective action to improve results within the department and in production processes
- Participate in new process implementation within the company including customer specification reviews, gap analysis, procedure development, pre-approval testing and OEM audits
- Works with EHS to identify significant safety and environmental impacts of plant operations and establish improvement goals and targets
- Interact with outside vendors, laboratories, and customers to communicate requirements and resolve issues
- Audit or evaluate contracted laboratory service providers for compliance with quality system requirements
- Perform new chemical request review and maintain Safety Data Sheet (SDS) database
- Motivates, coaches, and develops employees
- Responsible for Lab personnel, projects and performance for all sites in the Region within the department
- Other duties as assigned by management

Requirements:
- Education - Bachelors Degree required in related field, Chemistry preferred.
- Experience - 5 plus years of experience in Aerospace/Chemical Processing
- Compensation Range $75,000 to $110,000 per year depending on experience, with eligibility for annual bonus depending on site performance.
