Job Summary The Regional Health & Safety Manager, under the direction of the Director, Health & Safety, provides matrix leadership and coordinates health and safety programs across multiple assigned poultry complexes. This position monitors status, and collaborates with the location's managers to address any safety concerns. This role is based at either the corporate (Oakwood, GA) or regional (Laurel, MS) office and travels to assigned locations to oversee the implementation of safety and health policies, assist with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory compliance, and assist with Process Safety compliance as necessary.
Job Responsibilities - Using independent judgement and discretion, evaluate safety challenges and recommend appropriate solution to the Health & Safety Director, Complex Health & Safety Manager, and/or Complex Manager
- Provide Matrix leadership/ guidance to Complex Safety Managers including coaching and mentoring for Complex Safety Staff (e.g. Safety Managers, Safety Specialists, Safety Technicians, and PSM Specialists)
- Create and deliver necessary specialized safety-based training (e.g. electrical, lock out/ tag out, new regulatory, etc.) to assigned locations including assisting Complex Health & Safety Mgr as requested
- Manage and report company-specific safety metrics, matrices, and dashboards
- Assist with implementation of Life Critical Assessments, Safety and Health Audits, and other safety and health processes to eliminate Significant Injuries and Fatalities.
- Audit field activities to assure regulatory compliance and attainment of company objectives in the Safety and Health, PSM, and DOT areas as needed.
- Partner with internal departments to obtain required legal documentation in support of workers compensation, liability claims, and OSHA reportable incidents
- Assist with maintaining necessary and appropriate OSHA and DOT recordkeeping as needed.
- Represent the company with legal counsel as necessary in matters that relate to Safety and Health
- Partner with Corporate Nursing and Risk to implement appropriate health & safety claims mitigation
- Identify opportunities for improvement, present to appropriate leader, and implement, lead or participate in solution implementation
- Perform additional relevant duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities - Knowledge of OSHA, Workers' Compensation, fleet security and DOT compliance with the ability to apply to multiple situations
- Ability to create and influence all levels of the company through an easily understood presentation or communications
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, with all levels of the organization and external vendors
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail
- Must possess a strong servant leader attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency
- Ability to organize and prioritize work in a dynamic and complex environment to meet deadlines and daily requirements
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and maintain a productive and committed work effort, meeting deadlines and managing workload.
Education The position requires a bachelor's degree in Health and Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or other relevant disciplines. Ability to obtain certification as a Certified Safety Professional within five years of employment
Experience The position requires a minimum of three (3) years' as a health and safety professional with experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred. Experience building and leading a group of diverse employees preferred

Manufacturing Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risk of injury in a manufacturing environment, cold and humid and/ or hot and dusty environment. Loud noise above 89 lbs. possible and the ability to work non-standard shifts to meet business need (holiday, weekend, and extended)
