About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Regional Director to lead our environmental consulting operations and expand into EHS in Northern California and Oregon. The Regional Director is responsible for planning and directing the operational policies, objectives, and initiatives for a divisional or regional business segment for multiple offices. A FACS office is a profit and loss center located in a regional market. Each office is managed by a Local Director who has financial, operational, business development and technical responsibilities with a staff consisting of project coordinators, support and field staff. They embody core values, fostering a positive team environment through integrity and leadership.

The Regional Director will act as the Director for the Hayward, CA office and also have supervisory responsibilities for the Local Directors in their assigned region.

Additional Compensation and Schedule:

This position qualifies for a sign-on bonus of $10,000. This role is eligible for a hybrid schedule with the requirement of working in the Hayward, CA office at least 3 days a week.

Primary Function:

The Regional Director leads the office's strategic vision to drive growth and profitability. Responsibilities include developing and managing the annual budget including but not limited to: revenue, and profitability targets, aligning incentives for the office and the company. The Regional Director oversees all operations, including business development, project execution, resource management, quality control, and staff development.

Responsibilities:

People Management:

  • Management of personnel
  • Collaborate with Local Directors to implement strategies that drive revenue and profit.
  • Meet and/or exceed goals for the Region as outlined by the Chief Operating Officer
  • Create, implement, and monitor action plans for identified areas for improvements in local offices
  • Create and implement contingency plans for workflow, staffing, or scheduling disruptions.
  • Regularly visit the local offices to maintain good working relationships with the Local Directors, office management team, and the office staff
  • Evaluate staffing needs with the Local Directors for supporting our service activities and work with HR to actively recruit qualified candidates
  • Build bridges between offices and support departments (Finance, Human Resources, IT) to enhance processes and procedures for company
  • Ensure Standard Operations Procedures are followed and achieved
  • Client Management
  • Maintain regular contact with key and high potential clients
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Develop succession and transition plans for key positions within the offices
  • Other duties as required by Chief Operating Officer

Financial

  • Work closely with the Local Directors to achieve annual profitability targets in both dollars and margin
  • Obtain target profitability margin and dollars
  • Achieve revenue targets
  • Manage expenses within budget
  • Review and monitor monthly Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the office
  • Budgeting
  • Complete and update budgets for all offices in alignment with corporate financial targets
  • Forecasting
  • Provide and update weekly 90-day revenue forecasts to foster efficient utilization of labor resources
  • Proposal Review
  • Ensure that current pricing guidelines are met with all activity captured in proposals

Business Development

Work closely with the Local Directors and Sales Team to successfully grow market share in the region through the development of external facing new business opportunities, as well as in collaboration with other service areas within FACS's current client base through cross-selling.

  • Drive revenue by being a leader in promoting a Culture of Business Development working with Sales team including
  • Meet revenue targets ensuring achievement of office's profitability in dollars and margin
  • Identifying new business opportunities within existing client base
  • Identify sectors within the local market with new client growth opportunities
  • Work with FACS Sales Director to implement FACS sales process with clear and measurable targets for everyone
  • Work with FACS technical staff to participate sales calls as experts
  • Able to develop and execute strategies to close new business
  • Lead by example in delivering exceptional client service
  • Monitor and analyze market trends, competition, and emerging opportunities

Technical

Work closely with the Local Directors to achieve the following technical goals:

  • Keep abreast of environmental safety and health legislation
  • Act as a company authority and leverage others within the company in our service disciplines. Stay current with industry developments.
  • Ensure each office has balanced technical capabilities and development plans in place
  • Evaluate technical data gaps between senior and junior staff and create a succession plan for successful transition of knowledge

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in managing a profit and loss center, coupled with a comprehensive understanding of financial reporting.
  • A proven track record of consistently meeting and exceeding financial targets.
  • The ability to make critical decisions effectively, even under pressure.
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Lead by example and motivate teams in alignment with company Core Values
  • Strong operational and business development skills, demonstrating effectiveness as a leader.
  • Familiarity with our core Industrial Hygiene services, including asbestos, lead, and mold preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with a diverse staff.
  • Willingness to travel as needed
  • Proficiency in all necessary computer software, including, but not limited to, all Microsoft Office programs and Customer Relationship Management systems
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills

Education/Credential:

  • Bachelor's/University degree in engineering, science, environmental science, environmental management or a related discipline
  • A postgraduate qualification in a related discipline and/or MBA desirable
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience in selling, managing and delivering environmental projects
  • A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
