Pay Range: $16.50 - $18.00!

Duties:

Ascertain initially, from the registrants and on an on-going basis from other appropriate professional staff which residents/patients are medically permitted to participate in the Therapeutic Recreation program.

Develop and prepare for each registrant t a written plan for individual, group, and independent activities, in accordance with his/her needs, interests, and capabilities.

Invite and encourage appropriate registrants to participate in daily programs per therapy schedule.

Incorporate the Therapeutic Recreation plan into the registrant comprehensive plan of care.

Maintain program records and statistical reports.

At least quarterly, or as needed, review with the registrant his/her Therapeutic Recreation program participation and revise the plan as necessary.

Develop and prepare for each registrant a written plan for individual groups, and independent activities, in accordance with his/her needs, interests and capabilities.

Incorporate the Therapeutic Recreation plan into the registrant comprehensive plan of care.

Coordinate the Therapeutic Recreation program with the registrant's schedule of other services.

Develop a monthly/weekly schedule calendar, based upon individual and group needs, interests, and capabilities (post where it is accessible to all registrants.)

Plans, organizes, and implements a variety of leisure-oriented group, and individual activities; domestic, cultural, musical, social, intellectual, recreational, and sensory stimulation. Provides a list of supplies and plans necessary for group implementation,

Maintain registrant participation by visiting and stimulating conversation.

Document registrant attendance daily.

Completes care plans on assigned case load per policy.

Assures that the program area is clean and in good order before and after each program session.

Able to effectively communicate with registrants based on current abilities.

Be cognizant of resources and material in order to reduce budget expenses.

Arrange for frequent outings for registrants.

Assist registrants to bathroom facilities when attending outside functions.

Attend facility's in-service programs, department staff meetings, individual planning meetings with the TR director, TR team meetings, care planning meetings, team conferences and facility committee meetings as scheduled.

Ability to be flexible and willing to work a varied schedule (holidays, evenings, weekends).

Lifts objects, including water mop buckets and household garbage bags and linen, laundry bags, weighing up to 50 lbs - remove trash on assigned shift to dumpsters.

Sweeps, mops and vacuums floors as needed.

Maintains safe environment for registrants in/out of facility.

Perform duties according to the highest ethical and moral standards and in adherence with the facility's corporate compliance plan and all applicable governing laws. Adheres to the facility's confidentiality statement in accessing and safeguarding protected health information (PHI) of registrants and employees, as necessary to perform job duties.

Perform any other duties as requested by the Director and/or Administrator.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications:

Associates Degree or higher, or in lieu may substitute appropriate specialized training in related field. Background in Recreation preferred.

Ability to plan and organize recreational therapy programs.

Must have a sincere desire to work with the elderly and have an understanding of the social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of the elderly and developmentally disabled. Be able to plan, organize and implement goal driven programs that are based on individual interests and needs.

Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition, enthusiasm, and be able to work with registrants based on their functioning status.

Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
