Days and hours may vary based on facility need. Pre-employment Requirements: Physical Fingerprints Tetanus Hepatitis A & B Budgeted Min: $22.62 Budgeted Max: $28.28 Additional Information: This position is posted with the full salary range indicating future potential earnings; however, the actual hiring salary for this position is dependent upon relevant experience and qualifications above minimum requirements and position funding. Therefore, all starting salaries above the midpoint require further review and additional approval. Description Are you someone who is ready to make a difference within their local community? If so, the City of Flagstaff is seeking a qualified Recreation Coordinator I to join our team! As the City's newest Recreation Coordinator I you will actively support and uphold the City's stated mission and values. You will be in charge of or you will be responsible for assisting with a wide variety of recreation programs and facility operations. The Recreation Coordinator is expected to work cooperatively as a member of a team, as well as develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse coworkers and community members. The Recreation Coordinator is expected to consistently brings a high level of communication, leadership, self-awareness and empathy to all personal interactions. Examples of the Work Performed POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES Duties range from routine/less difficult to more complex (requiring the incumbent to take initiative, make judgment calls, and make decisions for the functions/processes for which they are accountable.)
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Assists patrons via phone and in person; provides information to the public.
  • May process facility use permits, and coordinate facility use schedules.
  • Monitors the use of facilities and equipment.
  • Assists with supply and equipment orders.
  • Opens and closes recreation facilities as needed.
  • Performs basic facility set-up, maintenance, and/or custodial duties daily.
  • Inspects equipment for safety. May inspect facilities pre and post use and initiate maintenance and repairs.
  • Collects and deposits program and permit fees. May prepare invoices.
  • Registers participants in programs.
  • Organizes, implements, and evaluates activities, classes, and programs.
  • Coordinates recreation activities with patrons, contract instructors, and outside agencies.
  • Maintains attendance, program, and revenue records and preparing summary reports.
  • Attends staff meetings and training opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • One year of college coursework in Parks and Recreation or a closely related field.
  • One year of employment in the recreation field. - experience in field of assignment preferred.
  • Or any combination of education, experience, and training equivalent to the above Minimum Requirements.
Ice Rink Assignment Only Must obtain propane certification within six months of employment. OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must possess, or obtain upon employment, a valid Arizona driver's license.
  • Regular attendance is an essential function of this job to ensure continuity.
  • Must have the ability to be contacted and to respond in a timely manner and be willing and able to perform emergency work on an evening or weekend basis.
