SUMMARY OF JOB: The Receptionist is responsible for receiving and channeling all incoming calls, greetings, and directing visitors and operating the paging system. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct telephone calls to the proper extension.
- Page designated person when the need requires.
- Receive and channel all messages in a responsible manner.
- Greet visitors and/or business personnel.
- Prepare the monthly staffing schedule (Full Time Day Receptionist)
- Train new personnel, as required.
- Alert Office Supervisor if problems arise.
- Send drivers to pick up residents from doctor appointments.
- Sell lunch tickets and turn in funds to the Finance department.
- Open donation box on Monday mornings and give money to the Executive Director.
- Maintain resident census, ensuring that all room numbers and phone numbers are accurate.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Office Supervisor, as needed.

- Full Time: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent
- Part Time: High School student with working papers
EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- On the job training
- Knowledge of technical operation of switchboards/multi-line phone systems
- Ability to speak pleasantly and professionally
- Ability to remain composed and function appropriately
- Ability to interact professionally with personnel on all levels as well as with those visitors entering the facility
Ability to learn new procedures regarding phone system PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Light physical effort
- Lift/carry up to 20 lbs.
- Balance of sedentary/mobility work
- Occasional kneeling/stooping/crouching/reaching/bending
- Occasionally moves/lifts supplies or equipment
- Ability to communicate verbally
- Reading/seeing/writing requires far and near visual acuity, field vision, and color vision to read written communications
- Must be able to write legibly
- Eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity to perform the duties of a Receptionist
