This position is funded through either department funds or Federal Work Study (FWS) funds. Students who are not eligible for FWS are still encouraged to apply, as department funding may be available. Manager: Logan Haak Location: Elmen Center Hours: around 8 hours per week Position Duration: Academic Year Position Overview The Office Assistants will aid the Rec Services office in supporting visitors and students. Work will include any general daily tasks deemed necessary to support the Rec Service's needs. Along with answering phones, copying, typing, shredding, errands and housekeeping as needed. Must be personable, trustworthy and work well with staff members and students. Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Answering phones in a polite and professional manner.
  • General assistance for Rec Services including computer work in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) and the Google Suite (Sheets, Calendar, Drive, Forms and Gmail). May include work in other programs.
  • Photocopying, filing and shredding.
  • Light office cleaning.
Working Conditions
  • Moderate noise (i.e. business office with computers, phones, printers and foot traffic) and office atmosphere working conditions (i.e. indoor spaces with artificial lighting).
  • Uses various office equipment and technology to complete tasks.
  • Communicates and exchanges information between multiple parties.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Required Qualifications
  • A willing and capable attitude for training with staff.
  • Basic knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher) and the Google Suite (Sheets, Calendar, Drive and Gmail).
  • High attention to detail and proofreading skills.
  • Strong communication skills and professional customer service mentality.
  • Ability to exercise social poise, discretion, and integrity towards students, staff, faculty, and the general public.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan work activities as to use time effectively.
