Candidates must be able to regularly report to First Heritage Federal Credit Union's Headquarters located in Corning, NY. Real Estate Specialist I: Ensures all real estate files conform to the company's policies and procedures and are compliant with pertinent regulatory requirements. Works primarily in the Home Equity lending process to complete the closing and post-closing process. Completes all responsibilities as a Home Equity closer, verifying approval contingencies are met and all forms are compliant. Completes the funding process for all Home Equity loans and assists with mortgage fundings as needed. Works with the Real Estate Specialist II in the mortgage origination process as needed, including verifying documentation of loan files and assisting with post-closing quality controls to ensure files are accurate and complete. Works as support to the mortgage servicing area for additional backup when needed. JOB DUTIES:

  • Works directly with the Loan Officer and Home Equity underwriter to coordinate the closing. Assists in the Home Equity loan process to assure complete accurate closing documentation. Assist in correcting any post-closing problems/discrepancies in tandem with the Real Estate Loan Reviewer and Loan Officer.
  • Assembles closing packets for imaging and prepares finalized file for quality control review for both internal auditing as well as secondary market quality control. Works with loan reviewer and originator to ensure all required documents are obtained and present in the file and loan passes all internal and external quality control standards.
  • Processes Home Equity and mortgage funding transactions including disbursal of funds to member account, processing fees, lender credits etc. Assists with coordinating closings as needed including net funding calculations, wire transactions, and check disbursements if necessary.
  • Tracks perfected/recorded mortgages and title insurance policies and follows up with attorneys and closing agents as necessary to ensure documents are received in a timely manner and provided to appropriate secondary market entities as needed.
  • Backups Real Estate Specialist II, Home Equity Underwriter as needed due to vacation or high volume. Is able to performs daily and time-sensitive duties in all these areas including using the Coviance system to order all third-party services.
  • Backs up the Mortgage Servicing area as needed due to vacations or high volume and is able to perform daily tasks such as morning reports, and real estate payoffs.
  • Reviews Home Equity Loans for Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) accuracy and assists in annual submission of data.
  • Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance. Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers. ADA REQUIREMENTS:Physical Requirements: Is able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance. Working Conditions: Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. Mental and/or Emotional Requirements: Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters
