RD&D Scientist / Analytical Chemist
About the Role
The role involves operating and maintaining ICP and XRF equipment, writing and performing lab experiments, and identifying process improvement opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain ICP and XRF equipment
- Write and perform lab experiments and sample analysis using ICP and XRF
- Identify process improvement opportunities and assist in implementing solutions
- Troubleshoot processes as necessary
- Make detailed observations, analyze data, and interpret results
- Maintain a safe working environment
- Perform general lab maintenance, inventory management, and solution preparation
- Operate and maintain equipment and assays
- Write and follow lab sample preparation protocols
- Maintain clean work area (fume hood, balances, bench top, lab equipment)
Qualifications
- Education background with minimum of a Bachelors degree, Masters or PhD preferred
Required Skills
- Strong working knowledge of sample preparation, dilution, and analysis for ICP, XRF and other lab equipment
- Hands-on experience in ICP analysis (3+ years preferred) with ability to write and execute complex and detailed test procedures with minimal input, interpret data, and new method development
- Good understanding of digestion, dilution, and ICP instrumentation
- Outstanding writing and verbal communications skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with great attention to detail
- Good organizational and laboratory skills with familiarity with proper laboratory safety and housekeeping practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in handling strong acids and able to wear appropriate PPE provided for job
- Background in experimental design and execution
- Ability to use a range of techniques, software and equipment to carry out analyses
Pay range and compensation package
$62,000-$82,000 401k – company match, health, dental, vision, and life insurance, paid time off
