The Radiology Technologist will produce quality, diagnostic x-ray images while providing excellent service to patients, physicians, and other employees. Essential Functions - Utilizes good radiation safety practices (ALARA) for patients, self and others by appropriate use of available devices. - Performs clerical functions required to navigate patient's medical record and complete orders in a timely manner. - Displays competency operating the Picture Archiving and Communication (PAC) system. - Displays competency operating equipment and performing procedures in the department, operating room, and on a mobile basis. - Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work areas and assures that rooms are stocked with necessary supplies. - Accurately marks all radiographs with side and position, utilizing lead markers whenever possible. - Assures patient information is correct on all paperwork and imaging. - Produces high quality radiographs and has minimal retake percentage - Educates patient, family and others, as appropriate, in regard to procedures the patient may be having, Provides the necessary documentation as appropriate. - Covers assigned 'on call' shifts as directed and responds in a timely manner. Other Duties - Enhances professional growth and development by participating in departmental and association wide informational meetings and inservices, including staff meetings, association wide forums, and seminars. - Participates in department and hospital Quality Performance Indicators. - Reviews department and association wide policies and procedures annually. - Consistently introduces self and role when interacting with patients and family members. - Maintains professional licensures as defined by position qualifications Abilities - Competency in performing procedures on and communicating with various age groups. - Knowledge of sterile technique - Knowledge of section equipment such that troubleshooting can be accomplished as necessary. - Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize work to optimize efficiency of department and coordinate workflow. - Ability to follow operational processes. - Ability to use good judgment and follow safety practices to protect self and others. - Must read, write, speak, and understand English. Physical Demands Exerts up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force constantly to move objects. The worker is exposed to contact with chemicals and infectious fluids, heavy lifting, constant standing, extensive close work, and extensive computer work. Required Education and Experience - Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. - Current ARRT(R) licensure. - Current Arizona Department of Health Services licensure. - BLS certification (within 30 days of hire).
