This vital role supports patients through their cancer treatment journey, delivering targeted radiation therapies with technical precision, emotional sensitivity, and a commitment to exceptional care. Position Overview In this full-time role, you will work under the supervision of the Radiation Therapy Manager to provide therapeutic radiation treatments in accordance with physician prescriptions and departmental protocols. You'll operate advanced radiation therapy equipment, uphold rigorous safety standards, and ensure a supportive, informative experience for each patient undergoing treatment. Key Responsibilities
- Administer radiation treatments to patients according to physicians' prescriptions and dosimetric plans
- Accurately set up and position patients utilizing immobilization and protective devices
- Operate linear accelerators and associated radiologic technology, ensuring proper calibration and performance
- Maintain accurate treatment records, including dose tracking, patient progress, and imaging data
- Observe patients for treatment side effects and notify physicians of concerns
- Adhere strictly to radiation safety procedures and regulatory guidelines
- Collaborate with dosimetrists, medical physicists, radiation oncologists, and nursing staff to ensure cohesive care
- Maintain proficiency with software systems such as ARIA, Eclipse, and Phillips CT for treatment planning and imaging
Required Qualifications
- Associate's Degree in Radiation Therapy or equivalent certification
- Radiation Therapy Certification from ARRT (R.T.(R)(T))
- Current BLS Certification (American Heart Association)
- Valid Radiologic Technologist License (as applicable in Iowa)
Preferred Experience & Skills
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in radiation therapy
- Working knowledge of:
- Aria Oncology Information System
- Eclipse Treatment Planning Software
- Philips CT Imaging Systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and multidisciplinary teams
- High-level critical thinking and independent problem-solving abilities
- Solid understanding of radiation safety protocols, Nuclear Regulatory Commission standards, and other relevant compliance requirements
