Radiation TherapistLocation: Radiation Center Location of Job: US:NY:Olean Work Type: Full-Time Shift 1Job Description This position is responsible to apply radiation to the patient (inclusive of pediatric, adult, and geriatric population) in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist. Assist in the treatment of disease by administering carefully prescribed doses of x-ray or other forms of ionizing radiation under the supervision of a physician. The radiation therapy technologist administers the treatment, observes the patient during treatment, and maintains records of the treatment. Other duties may include tumor localization, dosimetry, patient follow-up, and patient education. Education And Credentials Satisfactory completion of a course in Radiation Therapy Technology. Current licensure as required by the State of New York and certification or board eligible in Radiation Therapy by the American Registry of Radiology Technology. Maintain ARRT certification in radiation therapy with a minimum of documented 12 hours of continuing education. CPR certification required. Experience One (1) to three (3) years clinical experience in Radiation Therapy preferred. Knowledge in principles, practices and procedures involved in the operation of ionizing radiographic and radiation therapy equipment. Knowledge of the human anatomy and proper positioning of a patient to provide treatment as prescribed.
