With tremendous growth opportunities, great benefits, and flexible work schedules, it is no wonder why we are consistently recognized as a Great Place To Work!Job Summary:The Radiation Therapist is responsible for administering radiation therapy treatment in a safe and effective manner using advanced level linear accelerators, TrueBeam and Edge; recording and verifying treatment software; as well as simulating patients in accordance with prescription and instruction of radiation oncologists.Essential Functions and Responsibilities Include the Following: The Radiation Therapist performs routine, complex, and specialized work as well as integration and administration of new technology. Complex patient procedures include stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS); fractionated stereotactic radiotherapy (FSRT); use of the ARIA electronic radiation oncology software, optical guidance, Align RT, respiratory management, intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), dynamic wedge, cone beam CT imaging (CBCT). Prepares room to ensure proper positioning of patients for treatment. Explain all procedures to the patient including reinforcing radiation oncologist and nurses' advice to patients regarding skin care, diets, general welfare and/or reactions to treatment/care. Monitor patient's emotional and physical tolerance of treatment. Collaborate with team members to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care. Adheres to hospital wide customer service programs. Assumes responsibilities to include knowledge of equipment; review each patient's chart; maintain complete and accurate patient records; maintaining continue education requirements; perform other duties as assigned.Education & Experience Requirements
  • Graduate of a committee of allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) accredited radiography program or equivalent
  • Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent
  • Current NYS license in Radiologic Technology. Current registry in the ARRT
  • Experience preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Continuing education requirements to meet standards
  • Ability to identify and react correctly to emergency situations, including internal and external disasters and medical emergencies
