R&D Director – Polymer AdditivesIf you have an MS or PhD and have experience developing polymeric emulsions and dispersions, and have been leading a team? This could be an amazing new home for you! This is a privately owned company where the former President is the owner and the Chemist! He's retiring the day to day and is looking for a highly creative and curious chemist to lead this team! They have many employees that have been here for more than 20 years and little to no turnover! This is an opportunity to build a team and help grow a company!Seeking an experienced and talented R&D Director to lead, develop, and train our technical team. This position is accountable for defining the organization's strategy for product and process development, as well as overseeing key R&D projects.The R&D Director plays a pivotal role in shaping the company's future through leading teams in product development and process improvement. As R&D Director, you will oversee key R&D projects pertaining to wax powders, dispersions, emulsions, and other advanced materials.Essential Functions:Technical Leadership: Oversee critical R&D initiatives and align with business goals, ensuring projects meet established timelines and deliver solutions that drive company growth.R&D Discovery: Develop research programs that incorporate the latest scientific findings. Improve existing products and explore compelling opportunities; evaluate new raw materials and technologies.Technology Improvement: Identify, evaluate, and implement technologies used by suppliers, competitors, and customers to maintain a competitive edge and enhance product performance.Cross-functional Collaboration: Prioritize project goals by working closely with Sales, Marketing, Operations, and other departments to ensure alignment between technical advancements, market needs, and capabilities.Materials and Process Evaluation: Assess materials, processes, and equipment to optimize product development and production efficiency.Training and Development: Recommend and implement training programs and tools to enhance performance and skill development of team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.Performance Monitoring: Provide guidance and mentorship to team members to inspire high levels of performance and accountability.Documentation: Accurately document all phases of R&D projects, from conceptualization to implementation, ensuring transparency and compliance with industry standards.Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with customers through site visits, product testing, and exceptional service.Quality Assurance: Work with our QC team to optimize product specifications with respect to profitability.Industry Engagement: Represent the company at industry events, delivering proprietary insights and research; study trends and advancements in the field to share internally with the team.Supervisory Responsibilities:Lead and sponsor the global technical team, fostering a culture of collaboration, ethical behavior, continuous improvement, professional development, and accountability.Train and develop the North American group of laboratories, assigning projects, appraising individual performance, and ensuring that high standards of efficiency and quality are met.Organize and oversee the technical team through effective recruiting, retaining, training, and professional development.Administer and prepare laboratory budgets.**If you'd like to hear more about this opportunity and others we are currently working on, please contact Stephanie Kemp at [email protected]: 99.25SK#LI-SK1Salary$140,000 - $180,000 + 15% BonusBenefitsAll Insurances, Vacation, Bonus Plan, Profit Sharing, 401K, Company Events and Luncheons, and Holiday Parties!
