QA Technician

The QA Technician ensures product quality and monitors process deviations throughout the shift. Responsibilities include collecting production data, performing lab tests, and verifying that both processes and finished products meet established specifications.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and record product quality attributes (e.g., moisture, texture, size, count/lb, weight)
  • Conduct process checks and record parameters
  • Identify and place out-of-specification products on hold, document quantities
  • Notify the Manager on duty of held products and any deviations
  • Perform hourly surface starch tests on finished bagged products
  • Escalate significant deviations to the Corporate FSQR Manager promptly
  • Write detailed shift reports and communicate findings to the next QA Technician
  • Transport hourly retained samples to the lab, label them, and send to the warehouse
  • Monitor QA/lab supplies and report shortages to the Corporate FSQR Manager
  • Check metal detectors for proper calibration; record and report results
  • Immediately report any contamination issues
  • Inspect packaging hourly for correct coding
  • Verify incoming raw ingredients against Certificates of Analysis (COAs) and specifications
  • Match seal numbers on incoming railcars/trucks with Bills of Lading (BOLs)
  • Conduct GMP inspections and internal audits as requested
  • Perform shift-specific QA duties assigned by the Corporate FSQR Manager
  • Inspect retained samples during shutdowns for sticking
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the lab
  • Replenish forms when supplies are low
  • Keep an updated copy of the product coding list and daily production schedule
  • Provide on-site QA support during plant operations, including weekends

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent job experience
  • High School Diploma required

Experience:

  • Prior QA experience in the food industry is a plus
