Engineer – Quality Systems (Contract)
Overview
We're hiring a contract Quality Systems Engineer to lead the development and implementation of a Quality Management System (QMS) from the ground up. This role is part of a broader initiative to align operations at a Vehicle Processing Center (VPC) with ISO 9001 and related standards. You'll work closely with leadership across multiple departments to define, document, and improve quality processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a comprehensive QMS in alignment with ISO 9001 and other applicable standards
- Lead ISO certification efforts, including gap analysis, training, and internal audits
- Create and manage documentation: quality policies, procedures, work instructions
- Monitor QMS performance, report findings, and lead improvement initiatives
- Implement and manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
- Establish a supplier quality system and evaluate external partners
- Stay current on ISO standard updates and ensure compliance
- Train teams on ISO requirements and QMS operations
- Introduce quality tools and methodologies to drive efficiency
- Maintain document control and process consistency across departments
- Participate in safety, quality, and process standardization initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field — or equivalent experience (5–7 years)
- 5–7 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial sectors (high volume/high matrix preferred)
- Direct experience building a QMS from inception
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and other ISO standards
- Familiarity with internal audits, documentation control, and CAPA management
- Proficiency with quality management software/tools
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Preferred certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or Certified Quality Manager (CQM)
