The Site Quality Lead is responsible for implementing and adhering to a project's Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Field Quality Assurance Program. The role includes leading project staff such as Technicians and Temporary Labor, and requires fluency in Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical inspection requirements. The role involves establishing and executing project quality plans, personnel development, training, issue resolution, and reporting on quality metrics. The Site Quality Lead initiates tests, analyzes results, and finds solutions to technical problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in Solar Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical areas.
  • Oversee Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical Technicians and Temporary Labor on assigned projects.
  • Develop and review Inspection Test Points (ITPs) with project teams.
  • Maintain and update ITPs throughout the project duration.
  • Oversee quality inspections and documentation.
  • Coordinate with Superintendents to ensure inspections are completed timely.
  • Collaborate with Electrical Self-Perform and Subcontractors post-FAI.
  • Communicate quality issues with subcontractors and superintendents.
  • Conduct daily walk-downs and inspections.
  • Train QA and subcontractor QC personnel on ITPs and inspection requirements.
  • Maintain an accurate Daily Quality Report Heat Map.
  • Work with Logistics on material and equipment nonconformances.
  • Generate Non-Conformance and Corrective Action Reports as needed.
  • Provide inspection checklists to site personnel.
  • Ensure timely delivery of inspection reports.
  • Facilitate communication among project teams and departments.
  • Audit QC documentation from self-perform and subcontractors.
  • Provide coverage for other Quality Leads as needed.
  • Develop, implement, and facilitate the FQCP with the project team.
  • Report weekly to senior management on quality status.
  • Report daily to the Quality Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with inspection requirements and tools.
  • Manage project non-conformances and work with teams on resolutions.
  • Conduct random oversight inspections daily.
  • Verify rework completion of nonconformances.
  • Collaborate on schedule, quality, and FQCP compliance with teams.
  • Investigate NCRs/CARs, oversee their closure, and verify corrections.
  • Coordinate QC and testing requirements with project teams.
  • Lead weekly safety and quality training meetings.
  • Hold daily meetings to communicate quality workflows and assignments.
  • Maintain PPE checks and safety standards.
  • Assist in preparing Field Quality Control programs and schedules.
  • Maintain inspection metrics and documentation, distribute weekly reports.
  • Lead internal and external quality meetings.
  • Ensure all materials, documentation, and equipment are ready for deployment.
  • Order necessary items from the Quality Manager.
  • Develop team knowledge of quality plans and procedures.
  • Document SOPs and communicate revisions.
  • Prepare QIRs, NCRs, P/CARs, RFIs, and root cause analyses as needed.
  • Provide technical support during inspections and problem resolution.

Education and Work Experience Requirements

  • At least 3 years of verifiable Quality Management/Lead experience or a 4-year degree in construction or related field.
  • OSHA 30 or NCCER STS-C certification.
  • NFPA 70E certification.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Understanding of current technology practices.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety procedures.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and electrical diagrams.
  • Willingness to travel, work on-call, and during off-hours and weekends.
  • Reliable cellular device.
  • Pass drug screenings.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

Work is primarily in the field (90%) and office (10%). Must tolerate outdoor weather conditions and extensive travel within North Carolina and other states. PPE is required. Ability to sit, stand, kneel, lift up to 50 pounds, and work long hours is necessary.
