Position Summary We are seeking a Quality Control Inspector for 2nd shift to ensure all DOT witnessing, quality control (QC) hold points, and inspection requirements are met during production operations. This role is critical to maintaining compliance with specifications, welding codes, and company standards while supporting efficient workflow through the shop. Key ResponsibilitiesInspection & Quality Assurance
- Coordinate between production teams and DOT Inspectors to ensure required DOT witnessing of production operations and QC hold points are completed.
- Perform visual inspections of materials as required.
- Conduct layout checks and rotational capacity tests on bolts prior to shop use.
- Monitor welder qualification tests and record welding parameters to ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS).
- Perform dimensional checks on laydowns and shop assemblies; operate a Total Station as needed.
- Read, interpret, and apply welding codes, specifications, and company standards.
- Collaborate with outside inspectors to resolve quality issues on the production floor.
- Identify and develop improvements to the QC process to streamline workflow.
Daily Operations & Coordination
- Maintain open communication with welders, leadmen, and supervisors to sustain quality standards.
- Remain accessible via radio or other communication tools to perform checks as needed.
- Maintain detailed logs of work completed and submit required reports.
- Coordinate QC hold point inspections with production and DOT Inspectors.
- Partner with the shipping department to ensure inspected loads are ready for shipment.
- Plan work and allocate time across different shop areas to support smooth workflow.
- Utilize safe working habits and promote a culture of safety within the shop.

Required Qualifications
- CWI (Certified Welding Inspector) Certification - required.
- NACE or BCI Certification - preferred.
- Strong awareness of specifications and quality standards.
- Excellent organizational skills for maintaining accurate diaries and reports.
- Strong interpersonal skills for managing challenging situations.
- Ambition to help meet departmental and company goals and schedules.
Competencies & Skills
- Effective communication skills for reporting inspection results, identifying problems, and proposing solutions.
- Ability to coordinate with the shipping department to confirm inspections and readiness for shipment.
- Planning and organizational skills to schedule inspections in multiple shop areas to maintain workflow.
- General working knowledge of Total Station operation to assist crews and finalize assemblies during off shifts.
