Job Title: Quality Inspecting Team Lead Location: Toney, AL Shift: 1 st Reports To: Quality Supervisor or Project Manager Position Summary: The Quality Inspecting Team Lead is responsible for overseeing quality inspection projects, ensuring successful set-up, execution, and close-out in compliance with company procedures and customer requirements. This role supports supervisors by training inspectors, allocating resources effectively, maintaining job documentation, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. Key Responsibilities: Project Execution & Oversight
- Respond to new job requests in line with customer delivery requirements
- Allocate project resources based on job scope and inspector skill sets
- Launch, monitor, and close projects following established procedures
- Complete project turnover logs, ensuring all activities are documented
- Ensure certified material is received and communicated in a timely manner
- Maintain control of project tools and request replacements as needed
Team Leadership & Training
- Train inspectors on the job to meet position and job-specific requirements
- Monitor and evaluate inspection personnel for performance and compliance
- Certify project team members based on documentation and training
- Report performance and disciplinary issues to the Supervisor
Quality Control & Compliance
- Conduct layered audits (People, Parts, Process, Paperwork, Protection)
- Perform and oversee parts inspection and rework
- Ensure inspectors follow work instructions and proper use of gauges/tools
- Promote and maintain clean and organized work areas (5S standards)
Customer Communication & Service
- Drive customer satisfaction through regular communication and issue escalation
- Submit accurate billing information in a timely manner
- Represent the company professionally while interacting with clients
Essential Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, understand, and apply written work instructions
- Proficient with inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges, scales, etc.)
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership and decision-making abilities
- Able to work independently and manage multiple projects/shifts
- Willingness to travel to project locations as needed
- Capable of working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience in quality inspection; leadership experience preferred
- Understanding of inspection processes and quality standards
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift 10-50 lbs for extended periods
- Hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity (grasping, handling tools)
- Visual acuity
- Must pass a background check and drug screening
