Job Summary The Quality Engineer role is responsible for ensuring that products and components sourced from suppliers meet the required quality standards. The position involves working closely with suppliers, R&D, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to maintain high-quality products. The Engineer will lead quality audits, resolve supplier-related issues, and facilitate supplier process improvement. Key Responsibilities
- Review and assess supplier processes to identify opportunities for improvement and ensure product specifications are met.
- Visit vendor facilities to evaluate their manufacturing processes, systems, and capabilities.
- Conduct on-site audits of supplier facilities to assess compliance with company and industry standards.
- Develop quality tracking reports to monitor supplier performance and review defects, rates, and trends.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and corrective actions for NPI and sustaining products.
- Lead determination and execution of first article inspections to verify supplier process compliance.
- Review inspection results for defects and authorize release of components and finished goods.
- Recommend and implement improvements to ensure conformance with QMS requirements, including ISO standards.
- Work closely with the Supply Chain team to provide Supplier Quality Engineering support.
- Collaborate to establish supplier quality requirements throughout the supply chain process.
Qualifications - BS degree in engineering or Quality Management.
- 5+ years' experience in supplier quality management, quality assurance, or manufacturing with a focus on supplier relations.
- Strong knowledge of quality management systems, Six Sigma, and standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills including root cause analysis and continuous improvement processes.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for collaboration with suppliers and internal teams.
Experience - Minimum 5 years of experience in supplier quality management or quality assurance.
Skills - Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Working knowledge of quality/data evaluation programs such as Minitab.
- Thorough knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection equipment & methodologies.
- Ability to lead or work in partnership with cross-functional teams.
- Willingness and ability to travel to supplier locations for audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
