General Summary

This position is responsible for all aspects of Quality Management at an Area, Large Project, or Region. This includes managing technical issues, communicating quality matters, and ensuring compliance with company standards and contract documents. The role also serves as the main liaison to customers regarding quality issues.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  • Manage and support QC personnel, including hiring, firing, performance evaluations, training, and development to maintain a competent and engaged workforce.
  • Implement and oversee a Quality Management System to ensure compliance with quality standards and contract requirements, including inspections, testing programs, and communication.
  • Provide technical support during proposals, construction, and post-construction phases to optimize quality opportunities and meet QMS requirements.
  • Conduct specification reviews, develop QC/QA plans, generate material submittals, review mix designs, monitor quality data, and manage subcontractors to ensure project success.
  • Provide customer service through technical training and support on materials and construction processes.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with local public agencies, customers, and testing companies.
  • Support evaluation and implementation of new material technologies applicable to the region or project.
  • Prepare budgets, forecasts, and manage quality-related finances to achieve positive financial performance.
  • Promote safety procedures and ensure compliance with OSHA and MSHA regulations.
  • Education/Certification

    • High school diploma required
    • BS in Engineering preferred
    • EIT certification desired
    • Quality management certifications (ASQ, ISO, etc.) preferred

    Work Experience

    • 10 years of technical/managerial experience or BS degree with 3 years experience

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Technical knowledge of materials and construction concepts
    • Proficiency with databases and Microsoft Office Suite
    • Resource and project management skills
    • Sound decision-making and leadership skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Ability to work under pressure in a high-production environment
    • Training skills

    Physical Demands

    Must be able to talk, hear, stand, walk, sit, operate a computer, reach, lift up to 50 pounds, and have close vision and focus adjustment. Accommodations available for disabilities.

    • Valid driver's license and ability to drive long distances
    • This is a safety-sensitive position subject to drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment and random tests.

    The salary range is $102,749 - $154,122, based on experience, skills, location, and education.
