Quality Control Inspector

Performs both routine and complex shop inspections to determine acceptance and/or rejection of work performed in a variety of disciplines in compliance with applicable codes, standards and/or specifications. Monitors schedules and may provide technical guidance to others. Actively promotes effective implementation of Company's policies and standards in support of projects. This position may be responsible for direction of other QC staff or third party/agency quality professionals on assigned inspections. Supports development of or revisions to policies and standards.

Receives and reviews shop inspection documentation packages. Contact the respective Requisitioning Engineer to determine any unique technical requirements or concerns prior to initiating inspection. Coordinates travel schedule in support of project schedules and suppliers' fabrication/testing schedules, to maximize inspection efficiencies. Conducts shop inspections in accordance with project requirements, codes and standards, inspection packages and Requisitioning Engineer requests.

These inspections could include Pre-fabrication meetings, in-process inspections, witnessing factory acceptance tests, QC documentation reviews, final inspections and/or pre-shipment inspections. Inspections may include welding inspections, dimensional examinations, equipment alignment inspections, coating examinations and Non-Destructive testing or oversight of testing by suppliers or other third parties. Performs receipt inspections of goods at supplier's facilities to determine compliance with requirements, verifies certified material test records. Inspections may involve complex materials (e.g: titanium, P91, other alloys) or equipment (e.g: compressors, transformers, heat exchangers, etc.)

Verifies shop welding and welding documentation, applied coatings and linings meets code and specification requirements including review of Post Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) records. Advises issues discovered during the inspection that could jeopardize the safety, integrity or acceptance of the items inspected. Determines any non-conformances, participates in corrective actions, and ensures appropriate resolution and documentation occur. Prepares, reviews and/or generates records, reports, correspondence, and other documentation as required in compliance with procedures including identifying and assessing improvement opportunities. Mentors and provides technical direction. Acts in capacity of a lead person.

Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Minimum of 6 years with a degree, minimum of 10 years without a degree.
