We are currently looking for a Quality Assurance Site Lead to support our Maritime System Division (MSD) in Sterling, VA, an AS9100 certified facility. This dynamic position plays a crucial role in our hardware production and integration facility that supports Department of Defense (DoD) customers. Our design/build business model allows us to create and support new products each year, including rugged displays, integrated rack systems, and consoles that cater to nearly every ship and submarine in the fleet.
The Quality Assurance Site Lead will be instrumental in maintaining our Quality Management System (QMS) and ensuring compliance with industry standards such as ISO, AS9100, and CMMI, while driving continual improvement of all QMS processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Support new product development and the continuous enhancement of quality systems.
- Monitor and uphold the AS9100 QMS to ensure the delivery of quality products that meet contract requirements, conducting thorough inspections as per established procedures.
- Develop, track, and present key performance indicators (KPI's) related to quality.
- Conduct quarterly Quality Management Reviews, reporting on QMS implementation while engaging site leadership on quality objectives.
- Oversee the inspection process including receiving, in-process, and final inspections performed by Quality Control Representatives.
- Collaborate with the engineering team during new product designs.
- Organize and deliver training on QMS processes to ensure employees are knowledgeable and equipped for effective application.
- Engage directly with customers regarding product quality and foster strong customer relations as necessary.
- Analyze quality clauses in requests for proposals (RFPs) and statements of work (SOW) to ensure Sterling's QMS meets requirements, identifying gaps and implementing necessary changes.
- Manage the internal audit program, including planning, scheduling, conducting audits, and reporting findings.
- Formulate corrective action requests for audit observations, maintaining an up-to-date audit database.
- Enhance Sterling's supply chains by establishing quality metrics and fostering long-term supplier relationships, conducting quality surveys as needed.
- Manage the Non-Conformance process to address defective products, performing defect analysis to categorize and resolve issues efficiently.
- Conduct root cause analysis on customer concerns, corrective action requests, and negative CPARs to ensure preventive measures are taken.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives at the Sterling, VA site.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications
- Experience operating and maintaining an AS9100 quality system.
- BS degree and 4 years of relevant experience or MS and 2 years of relevant experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Ability to manage multiple activities concurrently.
- Detail-oriented self-starter.
- Capability to interpret written specifications and drawings.
- Must be able to stand for extended periods.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in a warehouse/production environment.
- Eligibility to obtain a secret clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Industry certification in AS9100 is highly desirable.
- Foundational knowledge of acceptable quality level (AQL), ISO, Lean principles, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Experience in leading and supervising teams.
- Familiarity with hardware development processes and DoD quality assurance practices.
- Proficiency in MS Office and a willingness to learn new systems to support job responsibilities.

The anticipated pay range for this role is between $89,700.00 - $162,150.00. The actual salary is contingent upon factors such as responsibilities, experience, and skills.
