Overview:

We are seeking a QA Automation Engineer with strong backend development experience to join our distributed team across Mexico, India, the US, and Canada. This role is crucial for ensuring the reliability, performance, and quality of our Identity & Access and API management services supporting a global platform.

As part of a DevOps-focused team, you will collaborate with developers, product managers, and site reliability engineers to design test strategies, automate testing pipelines, and enhance quality throughout the development lifecycle. Your role includes improving test frameworks, driving automation, and contributing to backend systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement backend test strategies for microservices and APIs, ensuring high coverage across functional, regression, and performance testing.
  • Build and maintain scalable automation frameworks for APIs and microservices using Java or similar tools.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions) in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor, analyze, and report quality metrics to identify improvement areas and prevent defects.
  • Validate logs, alerts, service integrations, and reliability metrics to support service health monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain test plans and scenarios, creating documentation aligned with evolving services.
  • Work with developers and architects to enhance testability, review designs, and participate in code reviews focusing on quality.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to build testable systems and deliver high-quality code in an Agile/DevOps environment.
  • Automate repetitive processes to reduce manual testing and operational work.
  • Job Duties:
  • Develop and maintain automated tests for backend services in Java and Spring Boot.
  • Validate API integrations using platforms like Azure API Management or Gravitee.
  • Utilize SQL and NoSQL databases during backend testing.
  • Implement mock services and simulate third-party dependencies for integration testing.
  • Support security, load, and performance testing of identity and access services.
  • Participate in CI/CD processes, ensuring fast feedback and quality gates.
  • Explore new tools to enhance manual testing for new features or complex flows.
  • Experience:
    • Strong communication and documentation skills for global collaboration.
    • Experience in test automation for backend systems and APIs.
    • Proficiency in Java and/or other OOP languages used in automation.
    • Experience with API testing frameworks and tools like Postman.
    • Understanding microservices architecture and distributed system testing.
    • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, especially GitHub Actions.
    • Familiarity with cloud services such as Azure and monitoring tools like AppInsights or Elastic is a plus.
    • Knowledge of identity management and security protocols (OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML) is a plus.
    • Experience with performance/load testing tools like JMeter or Gatling is a plus.
    • Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes for containerized services testing is a plus.
    • Hands-on knowledge of service virtualization is a plus.
    • Understanding API gateways and Identity & Access federation technologies is a plus.
    Salary Range:

    $63,000 - $108,212, based on skills, experience, and location. Compensation includes potential bonuses or commissions.
