Python Developer - Saxon Global : Job Details

As a Software Development Engineer, you will help design, develop, maintain quality test tools and frameworks to continually support and extend the test capabilities of our quality engineering teams. The candidate should have proven track record in a fast-paced IT department utilizing an offshore model. We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic, focused, and diligent individual who has a real passion for quality engineering, development, and data analytics skills. This person should have a combination of in-depth knowledge of Python, AWS and JSON.The role requires an individual who is responsive, responsible, detail-focused, and self-motivated to help diagnose and fix issues. Responsibilities will extend to providing solutions to support other organizations outside of engineering, like Product, Operations, and Actuaries. External and internal team collaborations are required.Other roles and responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

• Build new tools and processes using Python, AWS services, and a MySQL database
• Maintain existing premium calculation tools using Python, SQL and advanced Excel formulas/functions

• Compile, organize, and reconcile data between Excel and a MySQL database using Python
• Experience working/communicating with business contacts (mainly for requirements gathering)
• Experience with Jira, Confluence and agile methodology

• Recommend and execute improvements to tools
• Experience collaborating with a DevOps team to deploy resources needed to meet business objectives
• Operate independently, flexibly, proactively and have a flair for innovation

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of Python Development experience (preferably 3.8+)

• 3+ years of AWS services experience, preferably EC2, Elastic Beanstalk, Lambda, S3 and RDS
• 3+ years of relational database experience, preferably MySQL
• 3+ years of advanced Excel experience utilizing complex formulas
• 1+ years working with Django or a similar application framework
• Bachelor's degree, or the equivalent, in computer science, engineering, or a related field

Good to have:

• General experience in the insurance industry
• Specific experience dealing with insurance rating algorithms
• Experience with Pandas, Numpy and OpenPyxl
• Experience with REST APIs
