Position Summary: One of Insight Global's major clients are seeking a Purchasing Supervisor to lead a team of 6-8 dedicated professionals, as well as remote inventory locations. Qualified individuals will be responsible for the following:
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring of department personnel in: RFPs, quotations, and bid evaluations; data entry; data management and data analysis; price negotiations; adjustable price escalations; delivery and terms; purchase orders; and inventory management.
- Review and approve purchase orders and blanket contracts for accuracy
- Assist and provide guidance in vendor management and assist in vendor audits and assessments.
- Complete, oversee, and provide guidance in project requisition maintenance, database maintenance, problem resolutions, master planning reviews, inventory optimization, utilization, accuracy, reconciliations, reporting, and initiation of the buying process.
- Complete periodic data-entry reviews and internal department audits to ensure proper adherence to corporate policy and professional standards for accuracy and completeness.
- Gather and document user technology requirements; identify key manual work processes for automation; liaise with technical support team to develop functional specifications for automation solutions around forms, reports, interfaces, customization, enhancements, and workflows; recommend resource requirements; apply enabling automation technology; prepare system training materials and documentation; provide business systems training and refresher sessions.
- Monitor and review procurement policies for effectiveness and adherence to corporate policy and professional standards. Assist and provide guidance on terms and conditions negotiations with vendors as needed.
- Monitor and review pricing and commodity trends. Strategically determine, monitor, and maintain optimal inventory levels for assigned commodities.
Required Qualifications / skills:
- Four year technical or management degree (Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Accounting, Finance or Management preferred)
- Ten years of procurement experience or related industry experience
- Extensive knowledge of all areas of and aspects of supply chain management
- strong interpersonal skills & oral and written communications skills
Plusses:
- Experience within the utility or energy industry
- Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) strongly preferred
- Prior military leadership experience highly preferred (preference for junior officers in the Army – 2nd Lieutenant, 1st Lieutenant, or Captain)
