DescriptionPRIMARY OBJECTIVE OF POSITION:Serve as Purchasing/Payroll Clerk in the Finance Department.Summary of DutiesMAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:This is not an attempt to list all work operations of this job position. Duties generally include, but are not limited to the following:1. Performs payroll functions to include process employee timecards, timecard control report, and reconcile various governmental payroll reports as required by Federal, State and Local Laws.2. Maintains and reports to carrier all property liability insurance claims.3. Maintains and balances City and employee share of hospital deductions with payroll and company.4. Files and otherwise maintain vouchers on a timely basis and in an orderly manner according to the prescribed standards for Escrow Agency, Youth First. Prepares monthly Financial Statements and prepares payroll for Agency.5. Assists departments with purchasing supplies and equipment.6. Processes and prepares Notices of Deposit for payroll as well as the daily deposits.7. Provide back up for Accounts Payable Clerk.8. Perform monthly test counts on produce and cash at liquor stores.9. Accounts Receivable approving invoicing. Prepare monthly draft and monthly statements.10. Prepare and file monthly sales tax reports with the State.Qualifications/PrerequisitesPOSITION EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:1. Proficient use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Office products. Strong working knowledge of accounting software, especially Excel.2. Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in all work performed.3. Creates a favorable image of the City in contacts with the Public, Elected Officials and other Organizations.4. Must exercise initiative, discretion and independent use of judgment over matters of non-significance.5. Knowledge of City government with the ability to accurately answer public inquiries or refer to the appropriate department.6. Must be able to work with minimal supervision, independently and confidentially.7. Must be able to multi-task, prioritize, have strong communication skills and be a self-starter.8.
