A leading U.S. homebuilder is seeking a Purchasing Manager to join its high-performing division in St. George, Utah. This company specializes in building high-quality homes targeted at the entry-level and first move-up market and is known for its consistent growth, strong leadership, and collaborative culture.

The ideal candidate will lead the Purchasing Department and oversee sourcing for materials, labor, and services across multiple communities. This individual will play a key role in cost management, vendor negotiation, and procurement strategy to support continued growth in the region.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies that support operational and financial goals
  • Manage the bid process for plans and scopes of work across subcontractors and vendors
  • Track and report purchasing metrics to improve cost efficiency and departmental performance
  • Negotiate contracts to secure optimal pricing, terms, and quality standards
  • Build and maintain strong vendor and supplier relationships
  • Analyze cost scenarios, benchmark pricing, and assess market trends
  • Forecast material demands and coordinate delivery timing with construction schedules
  • Oversee budgeting and cost control for new and ongoing projects
  • Identify and mitigate supply chain risks
  • Maintain alignment with internal stakeholders (construction, operations, etc.)

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Directly manage and develop the purchasing team, including hiring, performance reviews, training, and day-to-day oversight
  • Ensure all purchasing operations follow company policies and industry best practices

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Logistics, or related field
  • 5–8 years of purchasing experience in homebuilding or construction
  • Strong negotiation and vendor management skills
  • Solid knowledge of construction materials and market dynamics
  • Ability to manage budgets, analyze data, and drive strategic decisions
  • Experience leading teams and collaborating cross-functionally
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; JD Edwards experience a plus
