Purchasing Manager

Northeast, Nebraska | Hybrid (Corporate HQ or Home Office) with Branch Visits

At the heart of every successful lumber operation is a rock-solid purchasing process—and that's where you come in. We're partnering with a family-friendly, values-driven company operating 10 lumberyards across Nebraska to find their first corporate Purchasing Manager. This is a rare opportunity for an experienced purchasing and inventory expert to design a role from the ground up, take ownership of vendor relationships, and create systems that empower branch managers and sales reps to improve bottom-line results.

• Deeply analytical, yet grounded in real-world logistics and vendor dynamics
• Energized by solving problems and designing new systems from scratch
• An experienced purchasing and inventory expert with experience in building products, construction supply, or other durable products

The Experience We'd Love To See:

• 7+ years of purchasing experience, with multiple locations of B2B sales
• Proven success managing vendor negotiations and sourcing strategy
• Familiarity with inventory systems like Epicor and Compass reporting
• Experience working with diverse purchasing processes and vendors across multiple locations to consolidate to create a more streamlined and effective purchasing system

What You'll Get To Do:

• Lead procurement strategy across 10 pro-focused lumberyard locations
• Shape a purchasing program that's never existed before–the true blank slate
• Build relationships with trusted vendors and evaluate new supplier options
• Establish systems for forecasting seasonal demand and optimizing stock levels
• Collaborate with store managers to align purchasing with local needs
• Track results and influence pricing strategy through better data and reporting
• Train and support store teams on tools, processes, and product knowledge
• Elevate internal efficiency while driving cost control and margin gains
• Partner directly with the President and senior leadership to align priorities
• Gain visibility across all departments and become the go-to purchasing expert
