Job Summary:The Purchasing Manager is responsible for leading all procurement activities, maintaining optimal inventory levels, managing vendor relations, and ensuring the cost-effective and timely acquisition of goods and supplies. This role plays a critical part in ensuring supply chain efficiency and supporting sales growth through strategic purchasing aligned with the Merchants Market organization.

Essential Functions:• Oversees, mentors, and evaluates procurement staff to ensure efficient operations, professional development, and compliance with procurement policies and procedures.• Identifies new procurement opportunities, negotiates optimal programs and pricing, and ensures thorough management of the purchasing process from initiation to completion.• Provides training for procurement staff in researching and establishing profitable vendor relationships.• Manages vendor relations and programs to leverage collective volume and maximize financial returns while upholding ethical standards.• Supervises the co-op program and reviews purchases for profitability, accuracy, and timely execution.• Administers the Blue Ridge Procurement process, including oversight of related training and implementation.

Required Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. A minimum of five years' procurement experience, preferably within food distribution. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is expected.

Preferred Skills• Experience with Unipro Food Service.• Knowledge of regulatory requirements in food distribution.• Proved track record in implementing procurement strategies that enhance margin and efficiency.• Experience in direct negotiation with vendors.

Physical Requirements:• Ability to work in an office environment and lift up to 25 pounds.
