Purchasing Manager Responsibilities:
- Guarantee the company is getting the best value for the cost while procuring goods and services from vendors and distributors.
- Negotiate contracts and deals with sellers to promote maximum cost-savings in the sourcing and supply chain management system.
- Devise and execute procurement strategies that benefit the business in the best way.
- Adhere to applicable legal frameworks and regulations while striking deals with distributors and vendors.
Essential Job Functions and Duties:
- Direct the purchasing of direct and indirect material to support all production plants (Currently three locations).
- Manage the total cost of ownership for materials by analyzing, identifying cost-savings opportunities and implementing strategies to optimize procurement costs
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with key suppliers, fostering collaboration, and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Overseeing the entire procurement process, from sourcing to delivery, to ensure a smooth and efficient supply chain.
- Review components issued to work orders for accuracy.
- Identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers to meet the company's needs while considering quality, cost, and delivery timelines.
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and an ability to deal with complex and conditional situations.
- Identifying potential risks in the supply chain and developing mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions.
- Development of new suppliers to support product expansion.
- Mentor and develop buyers at production plants.
- Comply with Driverge's Core Values (LOVE IT).
Position Qualifications and Entrance Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business or related field.
- 5 years' experience in buying.
- 2 years' supervisory experience.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing ERP. Rootstock experience a plus.
- Ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Solid verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required.
- Good energy and a positive attitude.
- Use of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel required.
- Maintain a valid driver's license.
- Candidates must successfully complete criminal and motor vehicle background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:
- Ability to travel up to 15% of time.
- Able to function capably in an office environment using standard equipment (telephones, fax machines, computers, copiers, etc.).
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Occasional lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.
- Must be able to complete office-related physical activities (walking, standing, talking, hearing, pushing, reaching, seeing, stooping/crouching, smelling, depth perception, identifying colors) as needed.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to produce.
- Participate in required company safety programs, trainings and PPE guidelines.
