A mid-sized manufacturer in the automotive industry is looking for a full-time Purchasing Manager to join its team. Reporting to the Materials Manager, this position will oversee procurement operations and play a key role in securing the timely acquisition of materials and services critical to the manufacturing processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in procurement, excellent negotiation skills, and significant expertise in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.

Schedule:

Regular hours for this role are Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, though flexibility is required to support all shifts and locations as needed. The position is 100% onsite and involves 30–60% domestic and international travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery timelines.
  • Manage the procurement process, including issuing purchase orders, negotiating contracts, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, securing favorable terms and resolving challenges promptly.
  • Analyze market trends, forecast demand, and identify potential supply chain risks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to define inventory requirements and maintain stock levels.
  • Implement systems to monitor supplier performance and assess risks proactively.
  • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and organizational policies in all purchasing activities.
  • Lead and develop the purchasing team, encouraging continuous improvement in procurement functions.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Integrated Supply Chain Management, Engineering (any discipline), or Manufacturing Engineering Technology is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement, with preference for experience in hydraulics or manufacturing-related industries.
  • Proven knowledge of purchasing processes, contract negotiation, cost reduction, and supplier management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Valid driver's license required.
