Responsibilities

Job Summary

As the Purchasing Manager at IES Residential, you will oversee the procurement of materials, equipment, goods, and services critical to our operations. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives across multiple categories to drive cost savings, ensure vendor quality, and optimize the overall supply chain.

This role requires strong negotiation and vendor management skills, analytical expertise, and the ability to forecast market trends to mitigate risk. Your contributions will directly influence operational efficiency, profitability, and project delivery success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead, and implement purchasing strategies aligned with business goals.

  • Negotiate contracts and close deals that ensure best pricing, quality, and delivery timelines.

  • Partner cross-functionally with internal teams to clarify procurement needs and project specifications.

  • Identify and qualify reliable suppliers; build long-term vendor relationships.

  • Monitor and forecast inventory levels and material requirements.

  • Conduct cost analysis, benchmarking, and scenario planning to support decision-making.

  • Track key purchasing metrics (KPIs) to monitor performance and drive improvements.

  • Manage procurement risks by staying informed on market fluctuations, supplier issues, and compliance.

  • Lead efforts in sourcing innovation and continuous improvement within the procurement process.

Qualifications

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager, Procurement Officer, or similar role.

  • Strong knowledge of sourcing and vendor management principles.

  • Keen understanding of market dynamics, negotiation strategies, and supply chain operations.

  • High proficiency in using vendor management systems and procurement software.

  • Solid analytical skills and data-driven decision-making abilities.

  • Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or related field.

Skills

  • Experience in the electrical, construction, or manufacturing industry.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Microsoft Dynamics.

  • Certification in procurement or supply chain (e.g., CPSM, CPIM) is a plus.

Work Environment

  • This position is based in an office environment with regular interaction with vendors, internal departments, and field operations.

  • Occasional travel may be required to supplier sites, industry events, or project locations.

  • The role may involve extended hours during peak procurement periods or project rollouts.

  • Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods, use standard office equipment, and communicate effectively across departments and with external partners.
