Responsible for managing purchasing activities across multiple sites. Direct supplier on-time delivery, transportation expense control for inbound materials, the purchase order life-cycle, and cost saving initiatives as identified by the Senior Manager Planning and Procurement and senior management that align with overall organization objectives. Manage activities that ensure requisitioned materials are sourced with suppliers that meet Elkay's performance standards at a competitive price.

  • Develop, evaluate and administer strategies to achieve performance objectives relating to cost, quality and materials availability.
  • Negotiate price and supply terms, manage the purchase order life-cycle, and follow-up to ensure timely deliveries of materials by suppliers. Identify and resolve supply problems; supervise the follow-up and expediting of supplier deliveries.
  • Forecasts supplier cost changes resulting from prices increases and decreases; looks for opportunities to minimize Elkay's exposure to rising costs in challenging market conditions. Lead POA initiatives as directed.
  • Monitor timetables to ensure the availability of materials to support new product launch programs, ensuring ongoing supplier quality requirements are met; manage Supplier Issue Tracking Process.
  • Foster an environment of procurement involvement with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Production, Planning/Scheduling, Accounting, MIS, and NPI to develop a proactive, participative working environment.
  • Responsible for inventory turns and velocity for materials procured by staff; drives to Elkay's inventory goals as established by senior management.
  • Reconciles the PPV and purchasing spend on a monthly basis and reports and manages process in the area of Supplier Metrics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree required, MBA degree preferred.
  • 5-8 years experience in manufacturing and FG purchasing.
  • Must have experience managing personnel, including organizing workloads of assigned staff, delegate responsibilities, and supervise day-to-day operations.
  • Ability to manage inventory and customer fill rates in a complex working environment.
  • Knowledge of purchasing, inventory control, and order fulfillment processes and inventory management methodologies required.
  • User experience with Oracle or SAP strongly preferred.
  • High level PC and database applications proficiency: advanced Excel skills essential.
  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated strong negotiation skills.
