**Description**

Primary responsibilities will include making sure that the raw & packaging materials are on site to fulfill the production schedule and making sure that the finished goods are produced in time to fulfill orders in an efficient schedule for the production floor. Coordinating with Production Planning, possibly daily to ensure all materials and ingredients are available when needed. Provide support to Plant Manager on issues, reports, and projects as needed. This position reports to the Production Planner.

**Buyer**

* Purchasing packaging and ingredient inventories.

* Build & maintain relationships with suppliers

* Process requisitions and update management on status of orders.

* Update inventory and ensure that stock levels are kept at appropriate levels at internal and external warehouses.

* Arrange the transport of packaging / ingredients and track orders to ensure timely delivery.

* Assess quality of stock received and escalate any discrepancies to suppliers and management.

* Maintenance of incoming and outgoing stock inventories.

* Analyze inventory requirements, verify supplier performance, and ensure all inventory information is current to support our production scheduling system.

* Creating purchase orders and confirming them with vendors, communicating backhauls, historical analysis for promotional and seasonal needs, expediting product needed, and communicating to production critical inventories.

* Work with the Corporate Purchasing as needed

* Work with Marketing to ease product revisions and new launches. Includes reporting on inventories on changing artwork and lining up product lines.

* Transfer the usage from the old item to the new item after the last of the old is gone.

* Aid the Warehouse and Cooler Managers in resolving receiving issues.

* Provide backup for packaging and ingredients as necessary for vacation relief.

* Enter releases for pickup from the outside warehouse for the other plants. Bulk purchases for skim powder are directed by Corporate Purchasing.

* Place pos for bulk orders as instructed by Corporate Purchasing.

* Monitor packaging and ingredient inventories at external warehouses as it relates to purchasing quantities.

* Escalate/expedite stock issues when a shortfall is identified.

* Monitor and adjust dates in our ERP system when the supplier changes their delivery dates.

* Microsoft Excel Skills necessary to support planning and ordering of packaging and ingredients.

**Required Qualifications:**

* Proficiency in Microsoft products.

* Excellent communication skills - able to communicate across all levels of the organization as well as with external customers.

* Strong telephone skills demonstrated by tactful and diplomatic attitude.

* Attention to detail.

* Ability to work independently.

* Ability to prioritize and organize.

**Preferred Qualifications:**

* Associates degree in Business Administration, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
