The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for the quality and efficiency of new product research, development and purchasing and other purchasing and inventory activities under the direct supervision of the Purchasing Manager. Employees in this job position should possess the following:

Job Specific Training:

  • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets under the direct supervision of the Purchasing Manager
  • Support the purchasing function and other relevant departments and communicate any supply problems which may impact on business operations
  • Works in conjunction with and in support of the Solutions team under the direction of the Purchasing Manager
  • Assists Solutions Manager with sales and marketing efforts to include research and analysis
  • Assists Solution team and Estimator with maintaining new product price quotes and communicating price changes.
  • Work to implement purchasing and inventory management policies, procedures, controls and standards
  • Work with Accounting and other Supervisors/Managers to ensure the most cost effective and efficient manner to requisition equipment, parts and supplies.
  • Assist Estimator with the preparation of repair quotes in regard to purchasing/inventory materials and labor costs.
  • Prepare reports, check and edit data collected as necessary
  • Schedule and prioritize work to be performed
  • Coordinate workflow with other Supervisors/Managers
  • Ensure proper tools and equipment is available and maintained
  • Ensure company and department specific housekeeping and safety requirements are met.
  • Able to perform other skilled or non-skilled work as directed by management written and verbal communication skills

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of an Associate's degree in Technical or Business related field with coursework in purchasing and/or inventory control management, preferred
  • At least 2 years of buying or purchasing experience required.
