Transportation Planning and Management (TPM)is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods on the City's streets, supporting the larger goals of economic and social vitality for people living, working, and doing business in New York City. Responsibilities include planning, street design, technical analysis, signs, transit development, freight mobility and markings, and ensuring the safety of motor vehicle occupants, pedestrians, and cyclists.
Office Livable Streets (OLS)is tasked with prioritizing strategic planning, community engagement, research, policy, design, implementation, and long-term management. Their goal is to create streets that are livable, supporting safety, accessibility, inclusion, resiliency, active modes, community cohesion, and economic vitality citywide. They also aim to enhance NYC's pedestrian, bicycle, and micromobility networks, providing comfortable, connected, green, and reliable transportation options across the five boroughs, with emphasis on Priority Investment Areas, mode shift, and reimagining streets. The office develops innovative programs, design typologies, project delivery, and analysis tools to meet evolving needs and technologies.
Public Space Equity Programaddresses the needs of managing DOT public spaces, especially in Priority Investment Areas and Public Space Priority Areas. It provides support to community partners and sites, including horticultural care, maintenance, technical assistance, and financial subsidies to ensure long-term success.
Public Realm Team - PSEP Coordinatorseeks an experienced and motivated individual to support programs assisting public space organizations and projects across all boroughs. Responsibilities include working with DOT units, contractors, and partners to develop management and operational plans, track site metrics, report conditions, liaise with city agencies, review designs, and support contract and procurement management. The role requires coordination with multiple stakeholders, site inspections, community outreach, and program tracking. Candidates should be familiar with public space design, operations, management, and possess strong organizational skills in a fast-paced environment.
