Position Overview: The Public Relations Strategist plays a key role in driving earned media, storytelling, and social engagement to strengthen the Space Needle's position as a premier global attraction. This role is ideal for a dynamic and media-savvy communicator who thrives in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment. The successful candidate will bring a strong understanding of the media landscape, a creative approach to storytelling, and a passion for the travel and tourism industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Media & Influencer Relations
- Cultivate and manage relationships with local, national, and international media, including journalists, influencers, and content creators.
- Coordinate media visits, interviews, and press events to drive positive coverage.
- Draft and distribute compelling press releases, pitches, and media kits aligned with brand messaging and key initiatives.
Social Media Integration
- Support PR-led social campaigns by developing content and collaborating with the social media team to amplify earned media efforts.
- Track engagement and adapt storytelling for multiple platforms.
Content Development & Editorial
- Write clear, engaging, and brand-consistent content across multiple formats including press materials, blog posts, web stories, and newsletters.
- Ensure consistency in tone and voice, with a keen eye for detail and alignment with the brand.
Event & Filming Coordination
- Organize and host media tours, press trips, and on-site filming visits.
- Oversee all PR-related logistics and ensure seamless execution in coordination with internal stakeholders.
Tourism Industry Collaboration
- Leverage existing relationships and knowledge of the travel and tourism space to support campaign development, partnership activations, and itinerary planning for visiting media.
PR Tools & Analytics
- Utilize platforms such as Cision to manage media lists, track outreach, and report on campaign performance.
- Create polished visual assets and presentations using tools such as Canva.
Cross-Department Collaboration
- Partner closely with marketing, sales, F&B, retail, and events teams to ensure PR initiatives are cohesive and aligned with organizational goals.
- Contribute to integrated campaign development with a collaborative, can-do attitude.
Team Support & Administration
- Provide administrative support to the PR team including meeting coordination, media tracking, and maintaining coverage archives.
What You Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
- 3–5 years of experience in public relations, media relations, or social communications, preferably within the tourism or hospitality sector
- Demonstrated success securing earned media placements and managing press visits or influencer activations
- Exceptional writing and editing skills; confident crafting a range of editorial content
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Cision, Canva, and major social media platforms
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple priorities
- A hospitality mindset, team-first attitude, and strong personal accountability
- Bonus: Experience as a tour guide or public presenter, with an enthusiasm for storytelling
Full time, Salaried position
Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications
