Salary: $35.85 HourlyLocation : Crutchfield Education Center - Locust, NCJob Type: Part-time AdjunctJob Number: 00502Division: Academic AffairsOpening Date: 06/26/2025 GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTIONIn support of the field experience requirements for Residency Licensure (EPP) students at Stanly Community College, the Field Experience Observation Instructor will conduct a minimum of two (2) observations of assigned students enrolled in the required courses for both the Fall and Spring semesters and conduct a conference with students after each observation, providing feedback and additional resources to enhance teaching practices. Observation visits will be in-person, unless otherwise specified by the K-12 Program Head. This position requires excellent communication and writing skills, and attention to detail. The Field Experience Observation Instructor will serve as a mentor to the student(s) in classroom best practices. This position reports to the K-12 Program Head. QUALIFICATIONSRequired:Master's degree in education related to K-12 (with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in University Transfer discipline)Minimum of one year experience in observing, coaching, and mentoring student teachers. 10 years of public or private school teaching experience.Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook). ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Perform a minimum of two (2) on-site observations per semester.Give the student feedback after observations.Review the observation rubric and the grade assigned to the student.If the student can conference after the visit and coverage is available to do in a separate room, conduct immediately following the visit.If the student does not have coverage to meet with you, the following are options. Conduct a phone conference (in which both of you have copies of the grading rubric). Conduct a video conference during the student's lunch break or during AMP time. Conduct a video or phone conference in the evening after the student is off work. Meet with faculty and learners to monitor progress, as necessary.Individualize coaching strategies to ensure all learner's progress.Provide meaningful feedback to learners as they work toward becoming a highly accomplished beginning teacher.Give K-12 Education Program Head recommendations for learner licensure.All observation documentation, including the grading rubric, notes taken during the observations, and supporting resources provided to the student must be sent to the K-12 Program Head no later than two days following the observation.Check Canvas for your assigned student communications (all discussions, reflection journals and assignments for knowledge on how to best support your students. (Example: Student shares in their introduction discussion they love to teach but you observe them using ditto sheets or having unrealistic expectations - having children sit for extended periods of time instead of being actively engaged. This is your opportunity to share resources and feedback to scaffold their learning.)Communicate with K-12 Program Head regarding student concerns or issues that arise.Technology skills (ex. combine various software into one document and accurate monthly excel timesheets).
