Adelphi is seeking experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) to provide psychiatric care services to individuals in custody within a correctional facility in Whatcom County, Washington. The ideal candidate will have experience in correctional, psychiatric, or public health settings and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering safe, evidence-based mental health care in a secure environment.Job Quick Facts • Ref#: BD-1016-15 • Profession: Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) • Specialty: Psychiatry Correctional Healthcare • Job Type: Contract • Location: Whatcom County, Washington • Coverage Type: Onsite • Service Setting: Correctional Facility • Facility Type: County Jail • Shift Schedule: Full-time or part-time (may include evenings and weekends) • Compensation: TBD Requirements • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program (Master s or Doctoral level) • Current, unrestricted NP license in the State of Washington • National certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) • Current DEA registration and NPI number • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in psychiatric or correctional settings • Current CPR/BLS certification (AHA-approved) • Familiarity with NCCHC standards and Washington State healthcare regulations • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment • Successful completion of a comprehensive background check and drug screeningResponsibilities • Deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to individuals in custody. • Conduct mental health assessments, medication management, and crisis evaluations. • Diagnose and treat psychiatric and behavioral health conditions within the NP scope of practice. • Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications in accordance with state regulations and clinical best practices. • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide immediate stabilization. • Collaborate with physicians, medical staff, mental health professionals, and correctional personnel. • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR. • Support suicide prevention protocols, mental health screenings, and discharge planning. • Ensure ongoing compliance with NCCHC, WAC, and facility-specific healthcare policies.
