**Job purpose**

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for **dynamic, results driven** individual to join as a **PROTOTYPE BUYER**. The **PROTOTYPE BUYER** will be primarily responsible for contract negotiations of prototype material, supplier tooling, assembly build fixtures, outside processing, and services for the Kokomo Technical Center (KTC). The Prototype Buyer will also be responsible for managing the prototype purchasing commodity strategy, which is designed to leverage BorgWarners collective purchasing power and maximize synergistic opportunities to optimize supplier performance, reducing total supply costs while meeting our technology expectations throughout the supply chain.

**Key responsibilities**

General Purchasing

* Select, develops and manage supply base for existing prototype material

* Lead negotiations of basic supplier agreements

* Identify and mitigate supply chain risks

* Support global corporate purchasing activities

* Participate in purchasing related internal meetings, including making presentations to senior management

* Maintain spreadsheets containing supply base data

Prototype Material Purchasing

* Manage existing unique supply contracts to support KTC development builds

* Negotiate changes within existing supply contracts for price and/or terms

* Establish new suppliers as necessary to strengthen the prototype supply base

* Provide consolidated single touch point for all purchasing needs on assigned programs

* Liaison to appropriate legal and core purchasing resources necessary for success

Supplier Tooling, Assembly Build Fixtures, and Outside Processing / Services

* Lead supplier contract negotiations

* Review Terms and Conditions for tooling and build fixtures for KTC

Process and Procedure Maintenance

* Maintain proper compliance to corporate purchasing practices

* Trouble shoot purchasing system issues

* Execute global prototype purchasing process for KTC site

* Participate and liaison to other purchasing agents at PTC, NTC, and other PDS technical centers

* Work toward consistency, alignment, communication and adoption of best practices

* Conduct and participate in layered purchasing audits in prep for 3rd party reviews (ie. IATF TS16949)

Metrics

* Maintain and publish monthly metrics to communicate overall performance

* Conduct continuous improvement efforts, coordinate

Travel

* Up to 10%, both domestic and international

**What were looking for**

* Bachelors degree in related discipline or equivalent experience preferred

* 0-2 years experience in related field

* Capable of working in a fast-paced team environment

* Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication required

* Must have organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines

* Proficient with Microsoft office products Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
