Job Description :

Our client is seeking a Protection & Control Power Engineer to join their team. The ideal candidate will have experience with AspenTech, OSI, and HMI systems, aligning successfully within the organization.

Protection & Control Power Engineer

Location:

Alpharetta, GA

Pay Range:

$110-130k/yr

Key Experience and Skills:
  • 4-8 years' experience with programming and configuring SEL RTACs, including developing HMI interfaces, logic, and data concentrator functionality.
  • Experience in integrating electrical SCADA systems with knowledge of OSI AspenTech or similar platforms for real-time monitoring and control.
  • Experience with electrical power relay settings generation and implementation – GE Multilin and SEL preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of communication protocols such as DNP3, MMS, GOOSE, and familiarity with IEC 61850 standards.
  • Experience in developing electrical construction packages, including Single Line Diagrams, Three Line Diagrams, Schematics, Interconnection Diagrams, and Logic Diagrams.
  • Knowledge of requirements in NEC, NESC, and IEEE 3000 Series standards is preferred.
  • Experience with power system modeling tools like ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
    • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam completion
    Responsibilities:
  • Development of settings files for SEL protection relays and RTACs, including data concentration, HMI, and logic.
  • Integration of electrical SCADA data with platforms like OSI AspenTech.
  • Onsite programming, testing, and commissioning of electrical protection, control, and SCADA systems.
  • Preparation of comprehensive electrical construction packages for system installation.
  • Maintaining detailed documentation of configurations and system processes.
  • Providing after-hours support for clients as needed.
  • Collaborating with Project Managers to ensure quality, budget, and technical progress.
  • Assisting in developing cost estimates and proposals for new projects.
  • Travel approximately 40%, with willingness to fly as required.
