Position Description
The Project Manager (PM) is the company's “management representative” to the project stakeholders and is responsible for the safe completion of projects within budget, on schedule, to the company's quality standards and customer satisfaction. The PM has the authority to take the required actions to achieve these objectives, and to ensure all project activities are consistent with contract documents and company policies. The PM and PS work as a team to plan and build the project. The PM concentrates on long-term planning, scheduling and the identification and resolution of roadblocks to support the PS and project staff.
Essential Duties
- The PM supports safety planning and execution, promotes accountability for safety policies, and participates in safety-related functions.
- Coordinate pre-job planning, mobilization, start-up activities, personnel planning, project schedule, procurement of trade partners and vendors, deployment of technology and similar activities as defined in the Book of 14.
- Manage project purchasing and contracting in collaboration with the Estimating department and project team.
- Represent the company at the project site and be the main point of contact for the owner, maintaining open communications with all stakeholders and resolving issues collaboratively.
- Monitor project costs and schedule progress; review job reports for monthly margin analysis and initiate course corrections as needed.
- Support the PS in the execution of the project quality control plan; ensure a QC plan is set up and a qualified commissioning team is created to support commissioning efforts.
- Manage trade partner relationships and issue resolution; seek opportunities to support the project schedule and trade partner success.
- Mentor, train and develop salary personnel; provide timely feedback and ensure participation in performance reviews.
Minimum Education and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, Engineering, or a similar field with a minimum of five to ten years of commercial design-build project management or construction management experience.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Solid problem-solving skills; consistent and competent judgment; ability to work independently and with a team; excellent verbal and written communication skills; high attention to detail under deadlines and multiple priorities.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Primavera P6 or Asta, Prolog and Bluebeam.
- Ability to strategically allocate resources and manage assets; proven management capabilities including delegation and motivation of direct reports.
Preferred Qualifications
Physical Work Classification & Demands
- Moderate work; ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
- Periodic walking, kneeling, sitting, crouching, reaching, standing, reading blueprints, and field measurements; climbing stairs/ladders; exposure to varying temperatures and noisy environments.
