Requirements
The Project Manager for Solar Projects at SolAmerica Energy will be instrumental in overseeing multiple solar energy initiatives from conception through to completion in the state of Pennsylvania. This role demands a seasoned professional with a strong background in project management specifically within the solar or renewable energy sector.
In this capacity, the Project Manager will coordinate with various stakeholders, manage team dynamics, and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and aligned with our quality standards. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a comprehensive understanding of solar technology, and a commitment to advancing our sustainable energy efforts.
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the planning and implementation of solar projects from initiation to closure;
- Ensure that all project goals are met while adhering to defined budgets and timelines;
- We prioritize accurate financial management through consistent reconciliation and reporting, ensuring data alignment across accounts, identifying discrepancies, and making timely adjustments. Our systematic approach promotes transparency and accountability for informed decision-making and strategic planning.
- Coordinate efforts between internal teams and external partners, including contractors, subcontractors and third-party suppliers
- Manage the status of the project, assess risks, manage change orders, and oversee deliverables through regular meetings and reporting.
- Guide engineering and procurement phases to facilitate timely material sourcing;
- Oversee site installations, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards;
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders regarding project progression and milestones;
- Create and maintain detailed project schedules and documentation;
- Execute quality assurance measures to meet project specifications;
- Facilitate utility interconnection processes to meet project requirements.
- Tasked with the planning, coordination, and execution of all project-related activities, among other responsibilities.
- Accountable for working alongside procurement and construction teams, facilitating project hand-off at the front end, and overseeing asset management at the backend.
- Understanding of how Project Finance impacts larger project initiatives and schedules.
KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES
- Experience in Community Solar and Distributed Generation projects is highly sought after;
- Proven track record in project management within the solar or renewable energy sector;
- Comprehensive understanding of solar photovoltaic systems and best practices for installation;
- Strong organizational and analytical skills;
- Capability to analyze construction documents, including plans, specifications, and contracts;
- Self-motivated with a teamwork-oriented approach to achieving project goals;
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities;
- Sound judgment skills to effectively balance risks against project objectives;
- Intellectual curiosity with a dedication to ongoing improvement;
- Proficient in project management software and related tools;
- Ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently;
- Familiarity with regulations applicable to solar energy projects.
- Preferred: Experience with Independent Power Producers (IPP);
- Preferred: Experience with Third-Party Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC);
- Experience in Change Management;
- Experience with Critical Path Method (CPM) Scheduling;
- Familiarity and experience using Procore;
- Experience with Site Tracker;
- Knowledge of Battery Storage is an advantage.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with renewable energy companies and a comprehensive understanding of the solar energy sector;
- Background in engineering related to solar electrical equipment;
- Experience in solar array design and geotechnical procedures;
- Field experience is advantageous;
- Familiarity with utility interconnection and testing procedures;
- Proficiency in Microsoft Project;
- Strong preference for candidates with Project Management certification;
- NABCEP PV Installation Professional Certification (PVIPC) (preferred)
- Additional relevant certifications (PMP, PE, NABCEP, OSHA 10 or 30)
Office Location & Travel Requirements
We prefer candidates to be based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, but will also consider applicants from nearby locations, including those within the Eastern Time Zone. This position will require travel to the sites
