Overview
Project Manager, Productivity Design to Value (DTV) – Location: Towson, MD or New Britain, CT. The DTV Project Manager leads cost-saving initiatives within the Hand Tools division, collaborating with Engineering, Marketing, Sourcing, and Operations to identify opportunities, drive savings projects, and enable execution to improve margin and VI (Value Innovation). This role requires travel up to 10% and a flexible work environment with three days per week in the office.
Responsibilities
- Lead the DTV, Productivity, Platforming, and Sourcing initiatives by identifying cost savings opportunities within product portfolios.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, Sourcing, and Operations to identify opportunities, execute them in a timely manner, measure ROI on VI savings, and present updates to senior management.
- Deliver plans and enable the execution of projects to reduce product costs and increase margins.
- Drive sourcing productivity projects by leading Engineering, Testing, and Qualification initiatives.
- Plan and support product teardown events, including preparing and delivering workshops to key stakeholders.
- Integrate with new product development teams to review future savings opportunities and compile data for analysis to identify VI ideas or trends.
- Support long-term ideation initiatives to sustain VI growth and margin improvement year over year.
- Identify roadblocks and resolve them through collaboration and creative problem-solving.
- Drive awareness and ownership of VI efforts across the global business.
- Engage in continuous improvement by ideating new productivity savings opportunities.
- Able to travel nationally and internationally (approximately 10%).
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical), Industrial Engineering, or Engineering Management.
- 3+ years of professional work experience.
- Functional project management experience in design and manufacturing of consumer products.
- Ability to understand engineering designs and manufacturing processes.
- Experience developing and delivering presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills with experience in cross-functional environments.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
- Creative thinker with the ability to generate ideas and overcome barriers.
- Proven track record of leading projects from ideation to completion is a plus.
- Manufacturing operations experience is a plus.
- Experience working in a global matrix organization is a plus.
- PMP or Lean Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
